Response for Christensen

Councilwoman Christensen and I come close to full agreement. She mentions schools, water, air quality, city infrastructure, and other items as impacted by growth, and she deprecates previous administrations’ permitting unfettered growth. To this point we agree. But she goes on to say that to stop growth would suffocate Longmont. I repeat myself: we are at a proper size, and aiming for stasis is a workable model. If you tell me that land-leech growth is inevitable, you must tell me what is gained by it that can not be otherwise attained by determined effort and city-nutrient development. To say we must continue to grow is to throw in the towel rather than deal with maintaining quality of life for our present set of residents.
